Welcome 2007, I hope it brings us all what we’re hoping for.

Dino gets a parcel, ably assisted by Grandad. We then spent the next few days finding things to look at under the microscope that was in that parcel. It was fab and he’s started a project on Nature. Granny provided a nice big book and he’s done some fab drawings and recording. That’s us set up for the Spring then!
Mimi, of course, got all things pink and fluffy! But she spent loads of time counting Grandads pot of change (mostly pennies) and did loads of colouring.
We went for loads of walks and the kids loved it. Dino collected stuff for the microscope and Mimi just ran and chattered like a mad thing.
It was fun, but in a way frightening too. My Mum is dying. It could easily take years yet, but slowly, in small increments, the emphysema is winning. It’s painfully obvious. I’m not sure what was worse, watching her not cope and using oxygen most of the time or watching the pain and fear in my Dad’s face. Dad is doing a sponsored abseil in April to raise money for research. I’ll put up a link when we know more. I’m keeping the BLF stuff on the Ethics Trading site to help where I can.
So, a lovely Christmas but with a bitter tinge to it. I hope 2007 brings some stability and improved quality of life for my Mum, some calm and no panics for my Dad and peace for us here.
Life is settling nicely here with fewer upsets and tantrums, I’m hoping that we’ll just carry on in that vein. Education is starting to really take off for Dino, and Mimi is soaking up stuff too. The business is slow for Christmas but I have a sale on for January so that should help. ***Shameless Plug** I’ve also gone for a completely new look, thanks to a website designer friend. Do let me know what you think!
I am also hoping for book news in the new year - I’ll post it up when I hear anything.
Mimi: Why is Santa in a shell?
Me: Huh?
Mimi: Santa in a shell, you know in that song on the cd in the car.
Me: Huh?
Mimi: (sings) santa in a sheeeelll.
(light dawns)
Oh that’d be Hosanna in Excelsis then.
It’s been a while hasn’t it? Sorry.
Well, the festive season is here. First party tomorrow at Home ed group. A get together of friends Thursday evening, Daddy’s on Sat and off to Wales on Sun. I’m so glad I got the last of my shopping (I hope) done today. I might need a few veg before we go but that’s it now.
Education? Yeah we did some. We gave up at the end of last week though. Life just got too mad. We’ll kick off again after we get back and that will involve a trip to the library to pick up new workbooks. Dino is reading relatively willingly and reasonably well but still lacks confidence. I don’t, I know he’ll get there in his own time. His pencil control (writing, drawing etc) is improving all the time but he just doesn’t want to. Mimi on the other hand draws everywhere and doesn’t restrict her efforts to paper. Cue me cleaning the cupboard doors and kitchen floor while growling at said artistic child. Grrr.
Will try to remember to blog before we go.
The kids made them at home ed group. I promised someone pics.

Can you tell I’m bored?
| Your Christmas is Most Like: The Muppet Christmas Carol |
You tend to reflect on Christmas past, present, and future… And you also do a little singing. |
| You Are A Weeping Willow Tree |
You are a dreamer, and you’re into almost any kind of escapism. Restless and capricious, you love to travel to exotic places. You are easily influenced by others, as long as they don’t pressure you. You tend to suffer in love until you find that one loyal, steadfast partner. An empathetic friend, you love to make others smile and laugh. |
Well, ok, he’s not been invested or initiated or whatever, but he got the uniform from Daddy today so we had to have pics!
