Today we…

This morning we went out to the local park to meet up with some friends. Kids played, I chatted and we all got a bit damp - some more damp than others.

We were home in time for lunch and after that we potted on some veg.

The window sill behind the puter. Left to right - broccolli, grey courgette, (some rosemary cuttings behind that), the orange pot has a pepper in - it doesn’t show very well in the pic, Then there are some small pots with fennel in and the big leaves on the end are a crown prince squash.

More window sill. Left to right there is a spaghetti squash, more broccolli, another pepper, more rosemary and my lovely new Acer I got while shopping last weekend. It’ll go in the garden at some point I think but not sure where yet.

This pic is for Kris - the black pot has the one Lumina (white) pumpkin that has come up so far and the white pot has an orange variety in it - Howden - medium sized and good for eating as well as carving apparently.

Then lastly there is the pumpkin comp. Sadly the kids pumpkin got badly frost damaged and although it’s recovering is still quite small. This is theirs. Yes those are blue slug pellets, but the packet says certified for organic use.

And this is mine - obviously it is in a more protected spot as it didn’t get frost damaged at all.

See? Nibbled but bigger and stronger. So the comp rules have been adapted accordingly so that when the fruit is harvested we’ll record the weight and see which ended up bigger.  In the meantime we’re trying out the varieties above along with a (hopefully) huge variety.

Then once we’d potted on that lot we sowed more sweetcorn, as we now only have 4 left from the first batch.
