Today we need to get some work done…
*groan* and the beginnings of a strop.
"However, work can be either sitting inside doing your reading, writing and some maths or it can be working outside helping me and learning how we make the garden look nice. Up to you, which would you prefer?"
Gardening it is then….
So, today we have:
- Dropped the car off for a service and then walked back - chatting about road safety as we went.
- Mowed the front grass - discussion on why dog poo is not good for the compost bin (not our dog, we don’t have one, and not yours either Kris - one from 2 doors away.)
- Weeded the side of the drive - easier without the car here.
- Had lunch - chat about nutrition and food groups.
- Went to pick up car - more road safety and a bit of heat trap, effects of towns/cities on climate type chat too. Car needs £100 worth of repairs - poo.
- Mowed back grass, and strimmed round the edges.
- Discussed timing for guinea pigs being outside so they each get a similar amount of time - that way it’s fair, seeing as they can’t all go out together.
- Weeded onions and garlic - plant identification and potential compsting/edibleness of weeds - particularly in terms of aforementioned guinea pigs.
- Experiment started after observation that where the piggies go out the grass is thicker, more lush and generally nicer (ie - growing as opposed to dying) So, we’ve put the poor critters on the bald patches with a pile of weeding to eat to see if the scratching about and pooping they do will help that part instead.
- Discussed (in a round about way) phototropism in plants, esp seedlings - then put all the baby plants outside on the table for a good dose of decent all round sunshine. Must remember to bring them in again.
- Cleared bindweed and brambles from round the birch tree.
- Trimmed back the comfrey and put in compost bin.
- Cleared another 2 large buckets of detritus from the Bramble patch.
