I Think You’re Bonkers

Nine years old today. Growing up fast and ready for new challenges - going to school full time in Sept (hence the uniform) 

I was chilling out in the local hospital after having given birth at 9.06 in the morning. They were happy for us to go home but I couldn’t arrange a lift until around 6 that evening.

Today I have a 6 year old girl bouncing about here and I keep wondering "How did that happen? Where did my tiny baby go?" On the other hand Mimi is wonderful, challenging, curious, inquisitive and I love watching her grow up. 

Happy Birthday Mimi. 

Yesterday was my 40th birthday and the kids made me a cake. They did all the mixing, and the measuring and they iced and decorated it too. The only part I had to do was get it out of the oven and out of the tins. Very nice cake it was too. They also wanted to get me a pasta maker after the home ed group pasta making day - so we did that and spent most of yesterday making pasta, which we shared with Kris and RJ today, well, some of it anyway. That was lovely to, as was more presents.

Poorly chicken seems to be simply moulting and will be fine in time. 

On a low note though, Dino went to check the piggies this morning and found one of them had died overnight. It looked like it was peaceful and the piggy had just gone to sleep and not woken up. Mousse is now buried under a new rosemary bush in the garden. (He’s the brown one on Mimi’s lap and that’s him as a baby, he was old when he died.)

First we dug out the insides… (Dino doing his own, Mimi doing mine - hers turned into semi liquid mush)

Then they designed things for me to carve - No way was I letting them loose with a sharp knife, the pumpkin skins were quite tough really. 

Dino wanted a Werewolf….

Mimi wanted a skeleton, but was happy with a Skull ….

The innards have made a HUGE pot of pumpkin soup for dinner tomorrow.

  Costumes for Samhain on Friday, but being tested out at every opportunity.

Last Saturday but we were away, so a belated birthday post for Dino, who is now 8.
